Buffalo vs Boston: Sabres and Bruins Battle in New York
Boston Bruins: Bumpy NHL 2014-15 takeoff for the B’s
Unable to maintain any consistency early on in the season, Boston enters tonight’s contest at 5-6 and sit tied for seventh overall (placed 11th) in the Atlantic Conference. This is rare air for the Bruins who have not sported a losing record since they were 6-7 back on November 7, 2011. After opening the season with a 2-4-0 mark, the Beantown Boys have won three of their last five games – a modest streak that started with a 4-0 bashing of Buffalo. Unconfirmed at publishing time, we expect Tuukka Rask to get the call between the pipes, though his back-up Niklas Svedberg did get the the aforementioned shutout victory on the road 18 days ago. Though injuries are a big concern in Boston - even hobbled - the Bruins are the better team in this contest.
Buffalo Sabres: Suffer pummelling loss after a big win in San Jose
Anyone thinking that Buffalo would gain some traction after their 2-1 upset win in San Jose on Saturday was brought back to earth after the Sabres were blanked 4-0 by the Maple Leafs in Toronto two nights ago. That loss, though at the end of a tough four game road trip, was a low point to the Sabres horrible 2-8-0 start as they were outshot 37-10 by the Buds. We are still trying to figure out how Buffalo beat the Sharks as the Sabres were outshot 30-15 in that contest. After sitting out the last two games, Jonas Enroth(1-5 GAA 3.13) makes his seventh start of the season and has a chance for redemption against the Bruins tonight.
Bruins vs Buffalo Betting Advice: Both teams are coming off a loss on Tuesday and a day off that included travel. Buffalo is 0-4 at home while Boston has posted a 3-2 record on the road. The Sabres still hold the dubious double of allowing the most shots (36.7 PG) while registering the fewest (21.8 PG). They also sit dead last when it comes to lighting the lamp with just eleven goals scored and 33 allowed over ten games.
Already an eighth of the way through the season, the Eastern Conference is looking a lot tougher than many predicted it would be. As perennial postseason contenders, Boston understands that they need to win games against non-playoff contending teams like Buffalo. Though not something we regularly do with a road team in the NHL - we are laying the puck line and backing Boston with a 200 unit wager at SportsInteraction.
