NBA Western Betting Odds

The NBA’s Western conference loves it’s dynasties. Which makes for somewhat predictable action, which is great for Canada’s bettors. Sadly, if you want to bet on a Canadian out West, your best plan is to bet against Canadian phenom Andrew Wiggins and his lowly Timberwolves. Wiggins is a stud and fun to watch. But his team has been irrelevant for over a decade, with no signs of picking up soon. On the other side of things, Tim Duncan and coach Popovich’s Spurs have a been a winning machine for almost 20 years. [+]

They win 50 or more (sometimes, much, much more) games every regular season, and almost always make a deep run in the playoffs. They really haven’t been out of the championship picture at any point in the 21st century. Tim Duncan alone has appeared in more playoff games than 17 NBA franchises. And he’s done it all with the Spurs.

Best NBA Western Conference Betting Tips

As a whole, the top tier teams NBA will win around 75-80% of their regular season games, and the same percentage (or slightly higher) of their home games. But that being said, even the lottery-bound low tier teams in the NBA will win a dozen or so games every year, which makes them great for single-game upset pay days.

It’s pretty common for both teams to score over 100 points in a good NBA game. There’s also a lot of potential to bet, with every team playing 82 regular season games. Teams that make the playoffs will play anywhere from 4 to 24 more games, depending on how deep they go.

The NBA’s Western conference was at the high end of a power imbalance for the last decade or so. For a while, fans out west would be frustrated, as their team would have to win 45-50 games to simply make it into the playoffs as an 8 seed. Whereas that record would get you home court advantage in the first round out East. When comes playoff time, east teams like the Heat, Pistons and Celtics could beat west teams to win championships, the rest of the conference was far weaker than the very deep West.

Things have evened out now and both teams are pretty evenly stacked from top to bottom. If you’re looking for a team out west to bet on, both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors are loaded with talented and young enough to be good for years to come. A the same time, most bettors have learned to stop saying “The Spurs are too old,” and know that San Antonio is going to win a lot of games every year, especially at home.
